Burning To Dvd

Hello. I have a very basic question, but before I purchase Roxio Creator 2009 I want to make sure it will do what I'm looking for. I have a JVC Digital Video Camera, Model GR-D270. I have recorded onto the mini DV tapes and I want to create DVD movies, and would transfer the video via firewire onto the computer.

 

Will Roxio Creator 2009 allow me to transfer the video to DVDs which can then be played in regular DVD players? The reason I ask is that I assumed that my new computer with Vista would allow me to accomplish that task, but I later learned I need Vista Home Premium to transfer the video onto my computer and burn it to a DVD.

yes you can I have a min D V You will need a 1394 port on your computer. if you don't have one you can buy one. you will then have to buy the firewire cable. open creator 2009 , open capture video it will see your D V when you turn on the play mode of the D V creator 2009 dose the rest.

 

I'm looking for the second ? myself I have made dvd's but can only view on computers. I want to know what format to copy & convert on as creator 2009 has many formats.

Which version of Vista do you have? The original poster (OP) indicated that he was trying to capture via firewire>

What program from the suite did you use to burn your DVD? You have given very little information on what you are doing.

You should be using myDVD if you want to create DVDs to be viewed on a DVD player. If you can only view the DVD on your computer then it would seem you have only created a data DVD not a video DVD. The video format is always mpeg2 for standard DVDS. The only option you have is the "quality" which can be set by selecting the quality from the drop down box near right bottom of the myDVD window.

YEs, you should be able to do that just fine. Interesting to know that the 'lesser' Vista versions do not include this feature.
