Highlight Without Pan & Zoom Editor

retiredandlovingit

Question

Greetings to all. I have a question about highlighting a person in VideoWave 9.

I have used the Pan & Zoon Editor a few times. Not my favorite tool.

Was wondering if there is another way to highlight someone, for example a spotlight.

Say you have a person within a group to whom you want to draw attention. Rather than zoom in

is there another way to highlight them?

Thanks!

Have you thought about using an overlay or a video effect. I don't have EMC 9 so I don't know what is available. Try selecting the "blur" effect and play with that, I was able to put a frame around the person I wanted to highlight.

Are you just having difficulty with pan and zoom or don't you like to use it for another reason. Are you using the presets for pan and zoom or are you doing a custom?

Hello again Steve (the other one).

You put me on to Pan and Zoom in an earlier post back in April.

I have tried the presets, manual and advanced. I guess what displeases me most is the quality of the video where you use pan zoom.

Most of what I am shooting is grandchildren: playing football or part of a cheer/dance team. At times it is hard to find them during the action that occurs in these events.

When I want to draw attention to a part of the video I will play in normal mode then insert a panel with the same video in slow motion with pan and zoom. Then after viewing the part of the video that I want to highlight return to normal speed. Maybe I am expecting too much? It's just you pay for cameras that shoot high quality video and I hate to detract from that quality.

Regarding Video Effect, yes, I have tried some of those but did not find anything to satisfy my intent of drawing attention to a person in the video.

As for using an overlay, yes I have used that, too. It does a better job to the extent it does not deteriorate the quality. Extra work is involved due to the various images associated with overlay. Meaning when you pick binoculars, for example, in order to minimize the binocular image you have edit the settings of overlay. Within edit of the overlay modifications of both Position/Transparency and Overlay Placement/Size (%) help to reduce the unwanted image that comes with the overlay.

One would hope a simple circle or rectangle could be easily inserted without the extra steps of going through the edit of settings.

Thanks for taking time to read and reply to my request for assistance.
