Copy Dvd To Computer To Edit

I need to copy my wedding DVD to the computer so I can edit it. What format should I copy it to? There are many to choose from.

I want one with good quality. I'm not sure if some take longer than others to copy. I ultimately want to make my own DVD out of it. I do have an HD television so it would be cool to watch it in HD.

It is DVD Video 720 x 480, use Video Copy and Convert to rip it to the hard drive. Edit it and make it what you want it won't get better than in was to begin with as far as quality.
