I have tride everything..........

A) ...uninstalling & reinstalling the software several times.

B) following the instructions in this link: http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000127CR

C) and following the instructions in this other link dealing with updating the firmware: http://roxio.creativevirtual.com/roxio/bot...d=1228691090009

PLEASE, CAN ANYBODY HELP. I feel like I have thrown away my money.

What do you mean by copying DVDs to your hard drive? You don't need the Roxio software to copy them to your hard drive. You use My Computer, and copy the files, from your DVD, to a folder on your hard drive, just like you would copy files from one folder to another.

And do come back and let us know if it works. You failed to do that in your other thread. :(

I am having this same issue. When I open EMC and select copy DVDs, I get the same message. I would like to be able to insert a Movie DVD and just copy the disc to another disc. What is the issue here?

Thanks.

Your trying to copy from disc to disc. The OP is trying to copy from a disc to the HD, not the same issue!

What type of Movie DVD, a bought commerical DVD Movie?

I don't even have to put a dvd in the drive. I get the error message when clicking "Copy DVDs". My intention would be to copy a commercial dvd movie for my own backup, but I can not even select "Copy DVD".

It won't work, no how, no way - they are manufactured in a format that blocks it from being copied and it's illegal to break that protection.

You may think you have the right to do it - unfortunately the studios have other ideas and managed to get that law through in just about every country

That is against the law most places and Roxio software won't allow it!

If your doing this in Video Copy and Convert, you get a message, 'Protected Disc'...

Commercial movies are not even the point here. The point is that Roxio has an option, "Copy DVD", in the EMC10 Suite that I purchased, that does not work!!! Here's another example:

I have a DVD that I burned which contains a large amount of pictures. I can not even copy this dvd which has no protection, since I get the "Unable to intialize burn engine" message as soon as I click the "Copy DVD" option. What is the purpose of this message?

To make discs, open the two files with winzip or winrar (they're self-extracting archives) and put the contents of each in separate folders.

Use Creator to make CDs from each folder

Regarding your point of:

"Commercial movies are not even the point here. The point is that Roxio has an option, "Copy DVD", in the EMC10 Suite that I purchased, that does not work!"

You did state:

"My intention would be to copy a commercial dvd movie for my own backup"

You have been told that it is illegal and that the program will NOT do it because of that.

Go into add remove programs, highlight the EMC 10 install, click change, then repair, you need the EMC 10 install disc for this, follow the prompts. Let us know if that helps...

"EMC 10 Install" does not appear in my "Add/Remove Programs" list. I see "EMC 10 Content" and "Roxio Easy Media Creator". If I click on "EMC 10 Content", I only have the "Remove" option. If I click on "Roxio Easy Media Creator" and then click "Change/Remove", I get a "Roxio Easy Media Creator Setup" popup and the only option is to click "Next". After clicking next, my options are "Modify" or "Remove". When I click "Modify", I am taken to the "Custom Setup" screen. All items are already checked (since I did a complete install). The only action I could take here is to make some of the items unavailable. Did I do something wrong?

The entry should be Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 Suite. That's what shows up in mine.
