End Of An Era

Not that many of you users out there probably use it, but Polaroid is no longer making film for its cameras. Article.

Though I never owned one, I have seen those pictures develop & there is something neat about that. Also, tougher to manipulate a Polaroid image compared to a digital one, yes?

It's been a few years since I've used them, but I have two polaroid cameras, one I've had for nearly forty years (gad! I feel old). I even had a Kodak instant camera back in the seventies. The Kodak didn't take off by the way. And the film for either one...good grief it was pricey!

I remember Polaroid mentioning a few years back that production was halting and film would be bought from stock and, when gone would be gone forever. It is sad. As you said, there was something magical about watching the picture come to life before your eyes. My best memory of taking photos with it was outdoors in the winter time. You'd have to quickly chuck the photo into your inside coat pocket to keep it warm while it developed.

And funny you mention digital. There are a lot of digital tricks to get your pic looking like a polaroid and I've done it myself a few times for clients. I've even got a few "actions" in photoshop to imitate aged polaroids. It's just not the same though.
