Playback Avchd - Dvd

Jon S

Question

Will Cineplayer playback a AVCHD - DVD created by Creator 2009?

When I try playing back the AVCHD DVD, which was made by My DVD, I get the message that the required CODECs are not installed. But there is no mention of which ones they are.

Looking in the options for Cineplayer, it does show that most of the formats are being linked to Cineplayer: H.264, .M2TS, etc

The Cineplayer - Help, does have a caveat about playback of the AVCHD & Bluray depends on the actual version of Cineplayer you have.

This is on a Win XP System. I did install the Toshiba UDF 2.5 driver, so at least I can see the files on the disk now. I do not have the Blu-Ray plugin. Looking at it's description, I don't see any mention of needing it for AVCHD discs.

Thanks

Jon

I thought the Bluray plugin was needed to have the AVCHD on standard DVD as an option. What version of Creator 2009 do you have? The Bluray plugin is included with Creator 2009 Ulitmate.

Creator 2009 Special Edition. I suspect that the "Special Ed" is just from including the USB Capture device with it.

It did give me the option and executed a AVCHD on DVD.

Reading the marketing stuff for the Blu-ray plugin, sounds like it is needed only for writing and reading from an actual Blu-ray drive.

Do you have the Creator 2009 DVD or a download file? You should be able to reinstall just the Cineplayer Codec pack.

Just insert teh DVD or unzip the download file to a folder. Look for a folder named CPDECODERPACK_431. Opent hat folder and double click on the CPDP.MSI file launch the codec installer.

I had the same problem.

I did what you suggest. It is OK now.

Thks

Tired what you suggested, same results "required CODECs are missing"

Turns out the root cause was my video driver.

After uninstalling/reinstalling the video driver, Cineplayer works fine. No more issue with the CODEC files missing.

Cineplayer 5 included with Creator 2009 will playback AVCHD files as well as AVCHD on standard DVD and Bluray Disc that was created with C2009. It just doesn't playback commercial Bluray discs.

Caveat: If using WinXp, you need a UDF 2.5 driver.

From my iniital post, I do have the UDF 2.5 driver installed, and can read the disk OK. The issue is that Cineplayer always has a message that the necessary CODECs are missing. But no mention of what is actually missing.

Any clues, what to look for?
