From Pc To Imac

Hi, have Roxio 6 on a PC and have been tagging [writing the track titles] for each music file in Roxio. Now I have bought a iMac and when i look at the tracks either in iTunes or in the iMac Finder i do not see any track written titles only 'Track 1, Track 2' etc.

How do I make the Roxio tags [track details] stay with the track file so that when i view the file in iTunes or iMac finder i see the track title....?

If i buy Roxio iMac will i be able to see the track titles?

As you have probably guessed i am not very computer literate so any help would be much appreciated.

Am I correct that this is happening when opening an audio CD in iTunes on the Mac? Or are these some other kind of audio files?

If it is from an audio CD then you should go to dougscripts.com and download CD Text to cdinfo. This is an applescript that when used in iTunes will automatically transfer the CD Text information from an audio CD to the cdinfo database file that Macs read to display artist/album/track info for audio CDs.

The Mac OS does not read CD Text from audio CDs. When you insert an audio CD in a Mac for the first time OS checks the online CDDB for a CD that matches the number and length of tracks. If there is a match the info is downloaded to the Mac's cdinfo database file and appears in place of the generic names. If it can't find a match then you get the generic names until you edit the info in iTunes. If the audio CD has CD Text then the applescript is a quick way to transfer the info in iTunes.

After doing this the OS will read the artist/album/info from the cdinfo database file on your hard drive the next time you insert that CD.

Thanks for this, the music files have been copied from the iTunes folder held on the PC to a portbale hard drive and then from there i have imported them onto the iTunes in the Mac. So am not using CD's to transfer the music files.

I can see the files text information on the PC iTunes but after the transfer just get Track 1 etc. on the Mac iTunes

I guess one possible soluution would be to do as you suggest and transfer the files via CD's and use the software you suggest to add the track information?
