Choppy Video On Dvds

MJHartsough

Question

Everything looks fine when I'm editing, but when I play the final DVD on my TVs, the images appear "choppy" (don't know what the correct term is for this, I saw this one used on a previous related thread).

Although the problem is very apparent from motion within the frame when the camera is dead still, it is at its worst when the camera is panning horizontally.

I tried the suggestion to turn the rendering option in MyDVD from Hardware to Software and it had no effect on the end result.

When I output the production from VideoWave I select for "Purpose": DVD Playback; and for "Video File Quality: "MPEG-2 for DVD, best quality".

My camera is Panasonic PV-GS320, I'm recording in SP mode.

I capture via firewire into avi format.

My burner is a Sony, DRU-830A

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

You could try not outputting from VideoWave at all. Open MyDVD, bring in the VideoWave (.dmsm) file, and burn from there.

Well, that fixed the problem, the video looks great now!

Thanks GrandpaBruce :)

However...

My Toshiba DVD player has a heck of a time with the menus. Whenever I make a selection it makes a terrible racket as it's trying to find the next menu selection or video. When I select the "next" menu arrow, it jumped out to the DVD Player's "stop" screen.

But when I put it into my JVC DVD player, it worked ok, though there was a bit of lag between selections.

You're welcome, and what it looks like, when you play it on your set top DVD player, is all the matters. :)
