PatriciaPatricia
I don't know if I failed to install or remove this software, but I keep getting an error message constantly on my computer about Roxio Media Manager. It says: "The features you are trying to install is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Roxio Media manager' disk and click OK." I would like to uninstall this and be free from the message (the program doesn't appear on my "add remove programs" list). PLEASE HELP?!?!?!?! THANKS!!! PatriciaPatricia
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! It did get rid of the problem! If I may ask something non-roxio related, I'm trying to fet rid of applications that I no longer use and many of them don't come up on add remove programs and even on the Window installer clean up. How do I get rid of them??? Also, is there a general forum where people exchange this type of information?? Because I feel I'm bothering people that want to talk about Roxio products. THANKS AGAIN! Patricia Patricia, you posted in the general forms. This is the right place to post any questions EXCEPT Roxio ones. Many people don't take the time to read the headings so there are a lot of posts here that should not be here. To answer your question. I have had good luck with "Revo Uninstaller" it is free. c/net video here. You can set it to several levels of cleaning out items in your computer's registry. I use one step below the most powerful and it seems to work without screwing up my computer.
vid2man97
To answer your question. I have had good luck with "Revo Uninstaller" it is free. c/net video here. You can set it to several levels of cleaning out items in your computer's registry. I use one step below the most powerful and it seems to work without screwing up my computer. The windows uninstall utility can be run after programs have been installed. As I read it on the the cnet page, Revo needs to be installed before a program is installed so it can see the 'before and after'. Have I got that right or can it successfully uninstall something that was put in my computer before I install Revo?
sknis
As I read it on the the cnet page, Revo needs to be installed before a program is installed so it can see the 'before and after'. Have I got that right or can it successfully uninstall something that was put in my computer before I install Revo? I see where you can read that and perhaps it is not written clearly. From Revo: "With its advanced and fast algorithm to scan before and after uninstall of an application you can remove unnecessary files, folders and registry keys left over in your computer." I read that to mean that it looks at the registry when you chose to uninstall a program and then looks at the registry again after the uninstall. It then lists the registry entries that are left over and gives you a choice to uninstall those entries or not. Not true. It will update the programs that have been/ are being installed. It runs the program normal uninstaller first and then looks for registry entries that are left behind. Perhaps it works "more thoroughly" at cleaning the registry of the newer files. The registry cleaner searches the current registry. How hard it searches depend on the setting. You do have the option to clear the registry entries at almost any level. You can chose to clear or not clear. I've used it for old obsolete software and for trial software that I didn't like.
gi7omy
I think vid2man is thinking of the old Quarterdeck uninstaller - that needed to monitor what was going in. It was great in its time but Quarterdeck got swallowed up years ago
vid2man97
Thanks to both of you. Write-ups on webpages are one thing, but if I have the option I always prefer to 'talk' to someone who actually uses the software. I appreciate the clarification.
