Computer Fails To Recongnize Cd After Uninstall

Patti The Gamer

Question

After uninstalling the Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 (I believe that's what it was), I restarted and attempted to install a game, as the particular game was secured with SecurROM (Evil program), it refused to run with Roxio installed.

Now that I have entirely uninstalled the program, my computer refuses to recognize any CDs in the CD-Rom drive. Any fixes for this?

Thanks.

Did the message tell you to uninstall Roxio? What message did you get?

No Roxio program installed? Does Windows see the drives in My Computer?

I manually removed all traces of Roxio from my computer, including the registry entries.

Both of my drives worked flawlessly three hours ago, and immediately didn't after uninstalling this program (It was Roxio Media Creator 8).

in My Computer the CD ROM drives aren't visible. The Device Manager does acknowledge their existence but mocks me with their obnoxious yellow exclamation points.

The reason I uninstalled Roxio was because SecureRom was identifying it as a CD/DVD ripping program and would refuse to run (Installed fine) with it installed. After I removed it, the game ran briefly before refusing to run, and that's when my CD ROM drives refused to work. It didn't specifically mention Roxio by name, but the error was whining about a CD/DVD ripper, and it was the only one I had installed on my computer.

You can no longer access the CD drive or the DVD drive, in Windows XP.

Click # 4 in my signature, follow the directions, don't worry if you don't have the error codes.
