I've been having the problems that others have referred to ; namely the "programme has stopped working and needs to close" etc.
The other members struggling with this clearly thought there was a conflict (or several). I spent an hour or so trying different combinations by trial and error and found that one worked for me. I hope it might help you:
Sony VAIO Laptop running Vista and Creator 10 : having opened the Copy and Convert Section , I chose Compilation Mode. But the change was to only at that point put the DVD into the drive and close it. At that point Windows Media Centre opens. Once that has finished, I close Windows Media Centre completely. And only then do I select the DVD to "add". So far , and I've done 4 DVDs since I latched on to this sequence last night, Copy and Convert has worked perfectly and I've got movies on PSP. It's not a quick process though: set it going and go back to it later!
