Sonic Mydvd Can't Burn My Dvd

pumaschicago

Question

Let me preface this by saying I don't know what I am talking about AT ALL. But I know I have "sonic my dvd" (an old version) on my computer. I put all the movie clips on, made the background, etc, and now the "burn" button is not activate-able. I am not able to click on it. DOes anyone know what is wrong?

With MyDVD open, click on Help – About and tell us what Version number - Build you have?

To burn a DVD you have to have DVD Burner. That Burner has to be recognized by Windows as a Burner. It may play CD's and DVD's but that only means Windows recognizes it as a CD/DVD drive, not necessarily as a Burner.

And you must have Blank DVD media in the Burner and the Burner must know that.

To answer the first 2 use Windows Explorer. Right click the drive and select Properties.

Note that both of these indicate a CD Drive but the second pic has a Recording tab on it!

The first one is a ROM drive and cannot burn anything! The second is recognized as a Burner because the Recording tab is present. While there, click on the Hardware tab and tell us the model of the Burner.

To answer the last 2 requirements, put a blank disc in the drive and wait for it to be read. Then like before, use Explorer to right click and look at Properties.

Now it should show DVD R or DVD RW and the File System must read as RAW.
