C 2009 Installation - All The Steps For Success (14)

I just downloaded C 2009 and ran into all the frustration and such that is described in this forum.

All the help here is tremendous - so after piecing it all together for a success rate of 90+ percent, the steps below are what is required to assure it installs properly and that ALL of the applications are available in the main program:

For a C 2009 installation (No other EMC Versions)

1. Perform the clean (un)install "exactly" as described in the forum per your particular OS (Include disabling all Virus & Firewall software)

2. Rename/remove the dsetup.dll file from the Windows\System32 folder http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000214CR

3. Uninstall .Net Framework 3.5, 3.0 - (If coming off an already botched C2009 installation) (use msicuu2.exe or Uninstall from OS Remove Programs) and make sure .Net 2.0 with no service pack(s) installed. I used this utility to clean mine http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools/dotne...leanup_tool.zip - - I also had to download .Net version 2.0 from Microsoft and install it.

4. Install/Reinstall C2009 "Main Program File/Disk" - follow all screen prompts (may want to run the main program and test for all applications)

5. Run the Hotfix for 2009 Content Disk Error http://kb.roxio.com/content//kb/Creator/000217CR - if it installed correctly you will receive a message: "the installation is valid" dialog.

6. Install C2009 Content Disk - follow all screen prompts

7. Restart the computer

8. Install C2009 SP1 http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=44909

9. Restart the computer

10. Run MSCONFIG and enable all startup services

11. Restart the computer

12. Enable all virus and firewall protection

13. Restart the Computer if necessary

14. Enjoy C2009

I followed this procedure and it installed like a champ!
