Popcorn 2 says DVD-R DL is a CD-R

gabeos

Question

I am working on a brand spanking new MacBook Pro with a Matshita DVD-R UJ-857 drive.

When inserting a DVD+R DL disc, OS X reads the media as a burnable DVD..

yet Roxio says "Hey, this is a CR-R that is 100 times bigger than a normal CD-R!"

:) .. Well, not in those words, simply: Media - Blank CD-R

How can I get Roxio to figure out that there is a burnable dual layer DVD in the drive as opposed to a Blank CD-R .. is there a way to force?

I'm going to try writing a disc image to see if I can get any luck there.

Thanks in advance

Insert the blank and take a screenshot of the Disc Info information under the Recorder menu in Popcorn. Include that in your follow up post.

Doh .. It's basically the same as the above pic, but here you go:

Although I'm really hoping it's not the media .. I've tried multiple DVD-R DL discs from the same spindle, and I'm doubting that's the problem. :)

Thanks again!

I just put a Verbatim DVD+R DL in and got this

MEDIUM

Medium Type: DVD+R Double Layer

DVD Book Type: 14

Space Available: 7.96GB

Space Used: 0 KB

Write Speeds: 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x

Diameter: 120mm

External Pioneer 110-D (Flashed)

I know this doesn't help you much. I was just interested in seeing what I would get.

PS. I could not figure out how to get screen shot there so instead I typed all of it.
