Will Not Burn To Cd

Janebo

Question

I have a brand new computer (XP, Dell) and it comes with the Roxio Creator DE.

I've burned CDs for years on another computer using an older Roxio. This one is not working.

I am burning a "Data" CD, though it's not all data; it includes two folders and many files including audio files.

At any rate, I put all the info in and then click to burn and the computer runs through the whole burn process, I can see the bar on the bottom moving up to 100%, then it says "complete" and voila, I have a blank CD! I've tried this on several blank disks of different manufacturers and nothing.

Roxio Tech support does not get back to me even though it's been one week since I've sent in my ticket.

None of us regulars has that version, so we don't know for sure what it has.

I believe that some of the functions in VideoWave and MyDVD are missing.

Creator Classic and Video Copy and Convert may be missing also.

Do you have all of those programs, in your version?

I don't think it has the audio applications either and probably no back up application.

If you have the Roxio Express Labeler, that is the lite version. However, I'm not sure anyone has accused Roxio of having an excellent labeling application.

You have a cut-down version that is provided (and supposed to be supported) by Dell

Does it make a .iso image on the hard drive?

Also, if the audio files are other than mp3, you will probably find that it is crippled to the extent that it can't manage a mixed mode disc

Daitha,

Interesting. Some intelligent person at Roxio just posted "Your post was moved to the Legacy EMC Products forum, because Dell does not ship with Creator 2009." I suppose they know definitively what came with my computer? I even have a CD-ROM in my hand that says "Roxio Creator DE 10.2..The software is already installed on your computer. Use this media only to reinstall the software". And for this type of help they want us to pay $2. per minute?

I did a search on my local disk for .iso and didn't find any. For years I used Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 and I burned exactly the same files, under the "data" listing and have had never a glitch.

I do have 2 .wav files there. Most are .mp3.

I'll try contacting Dell and see how they can help me. Roxio obviously isn't much help.

Thanks,

Janebo

I moved the post. If you knew that you had the stripped down Dell EMC 10 version, why did you post in the Creator 2009 forum, where it did not belong???? All you had to do was scroll down a little, and you would have seen the version 10 forums.:blink:

I entered the post area and wasn't paying attention to whether it was Roxio 9 or what. I found it rather complicated to navigate around there, in any event, i.e. to find exactly the right place for my post.

Since you have more experience with the Roxio posts, where would you have suggested I put it? I'll need to know where to put my next problem (though I hope I won't have too many more.)

Since you have EMC 10, this would be the proper set of forums, in which to post.

This suggestion did it:

If, after installing the software, you find that Roxio is not recognizing your optical drives, download and install the PX Engine, from the following link:

THANK YOU.

By the way, what is missing in this stripped down Dell version? Now I know what the "DE" is: It's "Dell". What don't I have that others have?

None of us regulars has that version, so we don't know for sure what it has. And, none of us works for Roxio, BTW.

I believe that some of the functions in VideoWave and MyDVD are missing.

Creator Classic and Video Copy and Convert may be missing also.

Do you have all of those programs, in your version?

No! Don't have them!

Oh well.

I was wondering if the regular version has a better CD labeller aspect. I'm very disappointed in this one. think the one in this version is very very basic, which is a shame considering how far they've progressed in creating effects, etc. It's like they're going backwards. I got a business software package so I'm surprised on how bare bones it is.

I'm not so keen on these types of tricks, so to speak: You think you're getting a full version of some important software program and you're not, and you don't know until you actually start to work on the thing.

Thanks much for all your help.

Jane
