Simple Question?!

grindingguy

Question

Hi - I haven't yet purchased Creator but I'm thinking about it.

What I need to know is will I be able to take content from an existing DVD (not a Hollywood movie or anything copyrighted - just family movies already put onto DVD) and then edit it and burn to a new DVD with Creator - without too much work or grief? The files on the DVD are listed as VOB files.

Thanks for your help.

John

Based on these replies I purchased creator 2009 and have to report I am totally unsatisfied by the performance of the software. The program has crashed every time I've tried to do any kind of video editing; trim video, add video transition, etc. Not just crashed the program but locked up the whole machine to the point that I have to unplug it.

It looks as though my system is way above the minimum and recommended values specified in other posts (Athlon 4050e, 3GB memory, scads of disk space).

If I can find the receipt I'll be taking this back to Costco where they have a satisfaction guarantee because this type of experience is far from satisfactory.

Buyer beware!

You may think your system is "way above minimum specs" (which are a joke BTW) but the specs you listed do not have much if any effect on the problems you are describing. You left out the most important detail: what video card or graphics adaptor do you have.

What kind of video are you using, where did it come from, how long in time is the video you are working with?

The Display Adapter listed in Device Manager is NVIDIA GeForce 8200

The video are home movies from 8mm tape previously transferred to a DVD by a professional transfer service. I've copied the video to my hard drive and am working from that. The video in question is about 2 hours long but I'm trying to edit it into smaller pieces for playback.

Yes, w/ the provisio that there will always be work involved in video production, and grief if your pc isn't "up to snuff" for video work. Consider reading this thread re: requirements.
