====================================

I am using Windows Vista Enterprise SP1.

====================================

PHILIPS DVD+/-RW DVD8801

====================================

I am trying to burn a 5MB file to CD-R (Drag-and-Drop) and I am getting ther error "Failed to prepare media for CD-ROM or DVD-ROM compatability" when I try to eject the disc.

When I try to burn it using the data disc console, I get the rror, "There was a problem writing to the disc. You can try again by clicking the retry button. You will need another blank disc ready."

The following data is available behind the advance button in the console's error message:

Sense: 03 ASC: 72 ASCQ: 01 (Command 00)

-------------------------------------------------------

Px.dll: 3.4.45.500

PxAFS.DLL: 3.4.45.500

pxdrv.dll: 1.2.3.0

PxMas.dll: 3.4.45.500

PxSFS.DLL: 3.4.45.500

PxWave.dll: 3.4.45.500

pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

As far as I know, the drag to disc module opf the Roxio s/w was dropped for Vista

Vista has its own built-in packet writing program and you would need to use that

Good to know! Thanks.

Any idea why the data disc console errors out? (I have also looked for updates and the update tool in the program says none are available)

Thanks!

The "RedBox" Version (Version: 9.0.554) is a cut down Version of Easy Media Creator 9 (which is itself two Versions behind the current "V.11" which is called Creator 2009).

One way to tell them apart is the new cost of the RedBox Versiion is around $30 wheras the new cost of EMC 9 is/was around $100 - altho it may be possible to pick up an old copy of it on eBay or similar these days for quite a bit less.

You are running D2D and you have it set to Finalize the disc on Eject, hence the Failed to prepare media… message. Generally speaking, in V9, it either worked or it didn't!

It is also unnecessary as XP & Vista will read those discs anyway.

Once you format a disc for D2D it is only usable by D2D and no other Authoring program will touch it! – that would explain why it can't work in Creator Classic.

D2D will run in Vista and Brendon knows how to get it running. But that does not change the fact that if you use a packet writer, you will lose data.

That won't happen with Authoring software.

Yes you do have a cut down cheapee version. Did you really think you got your for about $30 while the rest of us dummies paid $100 and it would be the same thing? :lol:
