Subtitles Cause Mux Failure

DVDmogul

Question

I am creating a simple bluray project with two menus, two audio tracks and 1920x1080 MPEG-2 elementary str HD material.

The compressed video is a known good stream pulled from a previous build from the transcode folder.

Bit rate is 30 mbits constant.

I can build a volume and burn just fine and play the disc on a Panny Bluray player perfectly.

When I add ten simple subtitles, the program errors during TSComp with a message MuxStatus Code:Mux_SN_E_TS_Underflow_ERR,Buffer Underflows.

I have followed the subtitle script exactly with id# tab TCIN tab TCOUT tab subtext cr. The time code numbers are drop frame legal and the timeline is set to dropframe timecode. Changing the timeline setting doesn't help.

During import it complains about three overlaps and then informs that it is complete. (although progress bar stays stuck at about 95%)

I can immediately remove the subtitle and everything is normal again (building/burning).

I am using version 641B03A.

I haven't worked with subs but I would try just one sub first and on a small file with different bitrates first to see if you can get one to work and continue from there.

Thank you Digital Master..

THat's pretty much what I ended up doing....I removed the overlapped entries and then the subtitle import completed with no errors, the progress bar finished, and the project now builds normally.

BUT the really big problem is that DVDitPro now forces transcoding the whole 60 min timeline even though it's a known good compliant stream..

This is a huge headache because it means ANY subtitle edit to the project forces a transcode!

Does anyone have a flavor of 6.4 that allows you to add/edit subtitles without forcing a new transcode? By adding subtitles I mean importing a valid subtitle script (I have over a thousand entries so manual entry won't cut it)

Anyone from Roxio- Is this normal behavior to transcode any stream when subs are added?

Hmmm...I'm not sure how subs are processed so I can't say if that's normal but it doesn't sound like it should transcode...

Unfortunately, Scott was the only one from Roxio that would visit this forum, you can try to see if you can get some help from Roxio Support.
