Videowave Slide Duration

maltesebudgie

Question

Is it possible to change the duration of multiple slides? As far as I can see it is only possible to change the duration of a slide by selecting them one at a time. I have a project duration of 4 seconds per slide but I want to change the duration of 20 slides to 1 second. Is there a quick way of doing this?

If you only have 20 slides, then yes. Right click on a slide and select trim. If you have more than 20 sorry. :(

A slide duration of 1 second is pretty quick. I hope you don't have any transitions associated with them.

There is no way, that I know of, if you want to change the duration of 20 slides, out of more than 20 slides.

If you only have 20 slides, then do it the way Steve suggested.

Aside: If you have more than 20 slides, and you want to change the duration of all of those slides, you can do it by clicking on File, then on Production Settings, then change the time in the Default still image duration box.

Curious…

Why do you think there is a 20 picture limit to Trim?

I put 205 pictures in VW and whenever I change the duration using Trim and select Apply duration to all~~~ all are changed.

I don't think Steve and Bruce's response implies that they assume a 20 picture limit to Trim. The OP wants to change the duration for 20 slides. If the OP has only 20 slides, then the option "Apply to all still images..." in the Trim function should suffice and the duration will be applied to all 20 pictures. If there are more than 20 pictures then the Trim function is not useful for the OP's purpose of chnaging the duration to a subset of 20 pictures.

I have a production that contains over 300 pictures. I want to change the duration of 20 of them to 1 second. From the replies I have seen posted it would seem the only way to do this is to change each slide individually. Perhaps ROXIO could consider adding the ability in later releases to allow the selection of more that one slide and then to change the duration for the selected slides rather than the whole project.

While talking about slide durations, note that changing Transition durations has a similar problem when wanting to change "all" of the durations to a certain time. When you click on "change all" it also changes all of the transitions to the same identical transition rather than leaving the ones you have chosen. Only if you have them all the same then that works. So if you want to change all of the transitions to the same time and leave each transition different (like random), you have to do it one by one.

Thought I would throw this out as long as durations times for Videowave is being discussed.

Yes, you have to change them individually. 20 Pictures won't take that long, though. Just click on the picture, and in the Preview screen, change the duration.

Also, if you use a duration of 1 second, for a photo, you won't see them, on your finished production, if you blink you eyes, during the time that it is on.

Yes it would be 'common sense' to allow you select multiple pictures and change the duration of those selected…

The oldest I have running is EMC 8 and it doesn't work in that one either. Maybe 2010???

A trick that may help if there were a bunch.

Delete the ones you want to change.

Change the Project setting for Duration to a new value.

Add the ones you deleted back in.

Of course it will work best if the ones you want to change are together.
