Dvd Burning Problems

Frank75

Question

I have imported MPG files from a Sony HD Camcorder by using Creator 2009's Capture Video function.

Adding the files to MyDVD Express works fine, but when trying to burn (either to DVD or when using the Save Disk

to Image function), my computer usually hangs after reaching around 20% movie encoding progress.

I have tried the following, but am still having problems, even with files as small as 20mb:

*Page file increased to 4gb

*Vista appearance set to "windows classic" to save memory

*Anti-virus disabled and startup programs reduced

*Changing video quality to EP before burning.

*Creator 2009 service pack installed

*Updated DVD burner driver Installed

*Harddrive Defragged (about 15gigs of free space)

I am using Roxio Creator 2009 1.1.110, Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Notebook is a HP Presario with 1gig of ram, and Intel Core Duo 1.73 ghz. I think the video card is Mobile Intel® 945GM Express. Graphics

mode is 1280x800.

Would be grateful for any help or suggestions !

Thanks

Frank

The bottleneck there is probably the graphics and with a laptop there's no real cure for that.

However, try opening Videowave and go to tools, options. Set that to software rendering and see if that helps

Couple of points - 4 GB pagefile is fair wnough, but the rule of thumb was al;ways 2 - 2.5 times the RAM (in your case 2GB to 2.5 GB would do. Also, setting the desktop to Classic won't really help much - go to control panel, system and select 'optimise for best performance'

Burn to an image file first - then use that to nmake the final burn to disc (you are just splitting the process into two stages

Thanks Jim, Tools-Options-Render did the trick - works great, even in HQ mode!
