Toast 9.0.4 Fails With Mac Os System Error -39 On Leopard

dkwyman

Question

Toast Titanium 9.0.4 fails to write a disk or disk image:

This system error dialog appears after the multiplexing progress indicator completes:

"

Couldn't complete the last command because of a Mac OS Error.

Result Code = -39

"

I converted/captured a VCR tape (44 mins) using an eyeTV hybrid on a PowerBook G4 running Mac OS/X 10.5.6.

The video can be played in Toast Player 2.0 launched from within Toast 9.0.4.

I tried deleting the Toast preferences: no change in behaviour.

Please comment if you are seeing something similar.

Whenever I've had a problem with EyeTV sources I do the following:

In EyeTV choose Export and then choose to save either as a MPEG video or elementary streams. Drag that exported file to Toast (if you exported as elementary streams just add the .m2v and Toast will add the matching audio). That should work.

My system will behave differently but here are some things to note when I try burn:

"Could not complete the command because of a MacOSX error. Reason code = -32030"

or

Interface error -32030

The connection is not stable

(the system will crash at this point and I get the screen telling me to restart the system)

I was able to burn on 1 attempt a cd from iTunes.

I've tried using different brands of media (Sony, Memorex, JVC) and different types (CD, DVD, DVD DL). No matter, it all fails.

I've tried re-installing Toast. I've also tried deleting the preferences file. Problem persists.

I suspect this latest version of Toast is not compatible with OSX 10.5.6.

I am bringing my system to Apple tomorrow for an unrelated issue. I did call Apple today about this issue and they suspect it may be hardware related (let's see if the Genius at the store agrees).
