Capture Device - Video But No Audio

just recently bought roxio creator 2009 special edition which includes the av capture device. I am able to capture video but i have no audio and yet i have audio with every other program that i use. Every window I open says the device is working properly and in device manager i have disabled and enabled the usb device but with no results. when the video is captured it comes up with a box that simly reads "an unknown error occured". I am able to play back the file and have video but no audio.

.... and yes I do have the volume turned up!

 

Any solutions?

The only suggestion that I have, is to connect it properly, since you forgot to mention what you are trying to capture from, and how you have it connected.

 

Also, install the drivers for the USB device.

I have installed my USB 2861.

I can capture video from my tape and DVD machines.

BUT NO AUDIO>

I have BOTH my red and white phonos in the red and white pho sockets in the device and machine but NO AUDIO.

I cannot even monitor audio.

Why?

This has nothing to do with your sound card! The audio is multiplexed within the video file inside the USB device. You must have all three cables connected (yellow=video red/white=audio).

I had the same problem. It was an installation problem. The video capture program installation went OK. However, when I installed my Creator 2009 the installation held for a long time at the one-third installed level. I thought that was weird but after a very long time I got a message that it installation was successful (unless I was not paying close enough attention). Anyway, there was enough software installed to get the video from my VHS machine in...just no sound. When I reinstalled Creator 2009, I used a zero instead of the letter O when registering my software and the installation went differently and smoothly. Now a whole lot more information shows up in my menus and sound is getting through.

 

The next problem to solve is the scratchy, distorted sound problem....one step at a time!
