Plug & Burn (only) Does Not Detect Capture Device | Creator 2009 |

ZZZe

Question

Plug & Burn application does not detect capture device. Capture Video application detects the Roxio USB 2861 capture device and I am able to import video (works fine). I have Creator 2009 Service Pack 1 installed. How do I get Plug & Burn to see the USB 2861 capture device?

Plug & Burn does not detect capture device, appears to be an old problem with Creator 9 (KB ID# 000134CR). Creator 2009 does not appear in the KB applicable product list as having this issue. Anyone know how to resolve this issue with Creator 2009

I have the same problem, I am using a Dazzle DVC 90 (under Vista and with Creator 2009 SP2), which works great for Video Capture, but is not detected for Plug & Burn. Equally, there is no restriction quoted by Roxio media that a Firewire card is needed - I suspect another problem that Roxio needs to fix!!!

Can't make this any clearer --- Plug n Burn DOES NOT WORK with the USB device. It only works with camcorders and firewire! Plug n Burn has never worked with ANY analog capture device.

It is a pity that Roxio HELP and MARKETING material doesn't make it clear that even their USB device will not work with Plug & Burn - thanks for the reiteration - I have now recorded the VHS tape the long way around - Thanks again GG

Well, let us know what they say.

Got another Tec support's response indicates they may never resolve the issue.

Strictly speaking a capture card is not a USB capture device, even though they serve the same function.
As far as I know, Plug n Burn only works with firewire, miniDV standard definition tape camcorders. It has never worked with any other device including capture cards. I just tried it with Hauppauge TV card which has MPEG 2 hardware encoding and it doesn't show up as a capture device in Plug n Burn.

I can't remember for sure, but I think that Plug and Burn only works when capturing directly from a digital camorder. I could be wrong.

Anyway, burning on the fly is iffy at best. I did it once, to test it, and it came out okay, but I wouldn't do it again.

I agree on both counts. Digital capture only.

Thanks for your response.

You may be correct, when I looked at the users guide it indicates you can do this for a DV camcorder. However, it also states if you have an analog capture card (which I assume the Roxio USB capture is equivalent) you can capture analog video to disc. Strictly speaking a capture card is not a USB capture device, even though they serve the same function. Seems like a very fine distinction (although there may be some card vs USB through put issue). I have pinged tech support about this.
