Big Reinstall Problem

suee

Question

I have followed all the instructions re: clean uninstall, turning all the startups off, creating a new administrator user, scouring the hard drive and the registry manually, deleting everything with ronio/sonic in it. I still cant get ECM 10 reinstalled. It goes as far as "mediashare"...starts on the main program, then starts rolling back. I have reinstalled this software numerous times aleady with no problem so cant figure out what the problem is this time...I'm at a loss and would appreciate any help.

I have the exact same problem as I wrote in most post dated Dec. 30th in Errors/Crashes/Hangs. Mine starts rolling back at adding Content and I get the message "Must install EMC10 before loading Content" But that's what I'm trying to do is load EMC10. I've been fighting this for a couple of months. If I don't get a fix by the week-end I might have to re-format my hard drive. Good Luck.

I have the same problem worst luck. Keep sending Roxio info but it has been 3 weeks now and they still have not sorted it. Tried regedit and cleaned everything out of the registry

Upgrading your motherboard is a good thing, but if you used the same hard drive, without doing a Format C:, and reinstalling the OS, etc., then your problem has nothing to do with Roxio. That is user error!

You are lucky that the hard drive booted up. Some folks will say, go ahead and use the same hard drive, without reformatting, but you have gremlins in the OS, from the other system, and those gremlins are what caused your problem.

You did say that it worked BEFORE you upgraded your motherboard.

It can't be user error, because that won't work!

If you get the exact same motherboard as a replacement you can probably just plug the hard drive in and it will likely work.

cd

I've been running the Roxio program for a year or two with no problems. Just upgraded my PC to a new motherboard, using the existing hard drive. Every program installed (Windows xP, MS Office, Model Airplane Software worked properly after the update. Except Roxio. Contacted Roxio, they indicated I have to remove Roxio, enter the Windows system files, find and remove all references to Roxio, their instructions covered a FULL PAGE!

This is crap. I asked for a refund, but their refund policy is for thirty days. So, I'm just going to delete my Roxio program, and NEVER NEVER USE THEM AGAIN, also will inform the Information Services group where I work about same.
