ubiediting
[] Security Solutions? I am wondering if other Members might know of this antivirus company, because after it was installed on my PC, Windows keeps putting a box on screen saying it is not finding an Antivirus programme installed. I have tried hard to find information on their Web Site but could not, also have sent 3 emails since paying, but the replys are unhelpful. Neither can it be disabled temporarily, while I burn a DVD with Roxio, but has to be uninstalled then reinstalled. If anyone is interested I have 2 addresses- multibill@supporthelp.net- and http://membersareaav.com/antivirus/index.asp- and would be grateful for advice. I do not know if giving these addresses is allowed in this forum and if not, I apologize. ubiediting
lynn98109
There isn't any rule against posting your email address, but google and other search engines regularly search these public Forums, and they in turn are searched by spammers seeking to "harvest" email addresses for spamming purposes. So you will get a response, just not what you had in mind Lynn

Did you buy a personal anti-virus program from this company- group? If so, what is the name of the software? I don't think I've ever heard of them. If I Google, I can't find any software companies with that name- just physical personal protection. I worry about any company (group) that puts nothing about itself on the web page. No links to anything about the company. Where did you find them? Run away quickly. If you have more information, please provide it. If not, you should buy a well known brand of anti-virus and run it. Get rid of what you have and count your blessings. Go to cnet.com downloads and find something there. BTW, just because Windows doesn't know it is there, that doesn't mean anything if there is a reputable application. When you get that warning, you have the options to say that you have software and to ignore the warning (at this point I wouldn't). BTW2, just use the default font on the web page, changing it gives either a bunch of non-recognized controls ot a hard to read font.
gi7omy
I'd tend to be a bit worried on that one to be honest Presuming the address is supposed to be 'members area av.com' - av.com is actually Altavista so it would seem that there is a spoof going on here. Quite a few 'let us check your computer' anti-virus and anti-spyware sites are themselves spyware. Far better to rely on well-known names (even though they may cause an odd problem or three) but, in general, something you get for free is worth exactly what you paid for it

If you get the Page can't be displayed message, you may have a virus on your computer, like the infamous Antivirus 2009 virus. Try Symantec, here: I am using this only as an example. http://www.symantec.com/

I made an error whilst on the AVG site thinking to download the free application and thought this was it. I cannot puzzle out how I did this but I did, I paid this Security Solutions £23 as I previously had Panda AV but Panda increased their price from last year of £15 to about £32 which seemed to much for me. Perhaps I will see if the AVG site Know this company, and will let you know if they do. Regards, ubiediting
lynn98109
AVG has a free AV program for personal use that can be downloaded from www.download.com -altho it is notorious for false positives. Avast also has a free (for personal use) AV program, downloadable at the same place. They have Avast Pro, free to try, $40 to buy. Going to seller A and getting something from seller B sounds suspicious ... Lynn

Regards, ubiediting You can search the net, but you are going to end up doing a Format C:, or pay some place to get rid of that virus, if you don't find a place on the net, that knows how to get rid of it. @Lynn, Tony, and Steve. The problem is, I will bet that ubiediting will not be able to get into any of those sites. He will get the Page can't be displayed message. It is a mean virus. Brendon
Bruce, He said in post #6 that he could get through to Symantec without problems, so I don't think he has been infected by this program from "Security Solutions". Ubiediting, That address resolves back to a Canadian hosting company. You may not have been infected, but I think you've been ripped off. I was about 2 minutes from heading out the door, to a meeting, and I misread it. My bad. I guess that one is not as bad as the AntiVirus 2009 virus. ubiediting
Ahh, thank you Brendon. I was about 2 minutes from heading out the door, to a meeting, and I misread it. My bad. I guess that one is not as bad as the AntiVirus 2009 virus. Hallo granpabruce, To date I have emailed this "Security Solutions Company" 5 times requesting my money back, but they reply saying that they have issued a "trouble ticket" but nothing happens! I have also entered 2 other antivirus web sites being Panda and AVG, so it seems my PC is not yet infected, which is surprising. I would be grateful to hear from Community Members if there is a consensus as to the Antivirus Company that offers best protection at a competetive price. Thanks to all who have offered helpful advice. ubiediting. Edit: Reply pulled out of quote.
