Hard Drive Full

starbright

Question

First time using EMC 10. Just successfully copied 5 dvd's, but the 6th was ejected when partially copied due to hard drive being full. Have been unsuccessful in finding or removing them from computer. I thought this program was supposed to automatically delete the content, after each copy. The avenue I used was just "copy disc". Very simple to do, but now my computer is 99% full and will not even defrag. All temp files have been deleted and others compressed. Any suggestions?

There are hidden temp file folders. Go to My Computer, click on Tools/Folder Options, then on View. Scroll down, and put a dot to the left of Show Hidden Files and Folders. Click Apply, then OK.

Now, in Documents and Settings, click on your user name, then Local Settings. You should see a folder name Temp, and another folder named Temporary Internet Files. Empy both of them.

If you are going to be doing any video editing, you need to get as large a hard drive as you can afford.

Just to be sure, download and run CCleaner. Some files might be hidden somewhere you didn't look. When you get it cleaned, use Auslogics to defrag.

Let us know how you make out.

IT'S FIXED...Mega Thanks!!! "Show Hidden Files and Folders" was checked, but I didn't know to look under local settings to delete them. There they all were with the little Roxio symbol beside them. It was so large that they wouldn't even load on the Recyle Bin...just permanently eliminated them. Back to 39% unused space on C drive. I hadve 20 GB on my computer, but I guess that isn't very much any more. For now, I will just empty the temp files each time. Thanks, again.

There is a reason they go to the temp folder and are called temp files. They are supposed to delete when the application is closed or the pc is rebooted, something with the software is broke if they don't!

You are welcome, and I am glad that you got rid of the temp files. They should all delete, on reboot, even the ones that aren't Roxio.
