Conv. Dvd To Xbox Video Problem

fernando b

Question

novice video here, i have an xbox 360 and am trying to convert dvds to video files i can play on my xbox.

i have converted the video_ts folder to xbox and its extension is mp4. but when i go to play it on xbox it does not

recognize the video at all. neither does windows media player 11. if i can get WMP11 to recognize it i believe it would work. I've tried googling codecs for mp4 and tried them all the best i can get is the audio to play. HELP. i have bought digital media and downloaded it and that works but that extension is .wmv

I don't have an iPod to test this, but my guess is the problem is the same where iMovie 08 can't open the Toast-converted MPEG 4 videos. Toast adds a text track to the video file that keeps it from being seen as compliant. The text track can be removed using QuickTime Pro (choose Show Movie Properties, delete the text track, save the file). Maybe just having iTunes convert it to the same format will work (I've never tried that).

You might want to consider getting an ElGato Turbo.264 which greatly speeds up the encoding of H.264 video. When used within Toast there still is the text track but when used with its own software there isn't a text track.
