Complete Movie Is Not Exported To Itunes/burned To Blank Dvd

Nando1773

Question

Hi-

I am trying to export a movie to iTunes so that I can put it on my Iphone; however, only half of the movie shows up on iTunes. The same thing happens when I try to copy it to a blank dvd. I am adding it from my desktop and it appears under the Video Files in Convert. The complete movie seems to be on Toast because when I drag the little blue box thing under the preview, it goes through the entire movie. For some reason, only half of the movie is being exported or copied onto a disc. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It is a dvd movie that I transferred to my computer. I've not messed with the settings, so, I'm guessing that it's the default settings.

Thanks.

If you dragged the contents of a VIDEO_TS folder to the Toast window with Video Files selected as the format, that could be the reason for the woes.

In the Convert window there is a setting for VIDEO_TS folders. That is the one to use. If that is what you did choose and it didn't work properly, then here is the workaround:

1. Place the VIDEO_TS folder on the desktop.

2. Choose Video files as the format in the Convert window.

3. Choose DVD with the top button of the Media Browser. If the Media Browser window isn't open, select Show Media Browser in the Windows menu.

4. Double-click on what appears in the browser window to see the individual titles contained within the VIDEO_TS folder. Drag the title(s) you want to the Video window.

5. When Toast is finished extracting the MPEG files from the VIDEO_TS folder, proceed with converting to the iPod format.

Hi, again -

I was able to get the movie into the VIDEO_TS section in the Convert window, and I was able to burn a dvd. The problem that I am having now is after I export the movie to iTunes and play it, it freezes about a quarter of the way in and stays like that all the way through. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'm guessing there is something about the source video that is the real cause of these problems.

If you have MPEG Streamclip you could open the source VIDEO_TS folder in Streamclip, choose Fix Timecode breaks from the Edit menu and then choose Convert to MPEG in the File menu. Use that saved MPEG file in Toast. Timecode breaks can cause problems such as you are experiencing.

tsantee - You are awesome! I followed all of your instructions and it worked beautifully! Just one final question: The MPEG Streamclip...should I utilize that for every movie that I convert?

Again, thanks for all of your help...you are the best!!

It depends on the source video. If recorded by a standalone DVD recorder then yes, use MPEG Streamclip first. Otherwise it is uncommon to need that step.
