Encoding Errors When Using My Dvd Express To Burn

Mrs. Jonesy

Question

HELP, HELP, HELP! I have succesfully created and burned several projects in Video Wave in Easy Creator 2009. Now, I receive error codes when trying to create discs in my DVD Express. They are not the same codes. It is never the same thing. When I can get it to even start the process it shows that it is Encoding the Movie; however, it does not show the individual pictures on the screen. This is a sure sign it will fail. What can I do?

What appears in the screen when it is encoding? If the screen is grey with concentric circles and the word mpeg then it is working correctly since the video it is processing is already encoded to the correct format and the video is just "passing" through to the output file.

Some more information would be helpful such as system specs,(especially video card), the type of video you are processing, where did the video come from? How long in time is the video? What are the error messages?

BTW, you should be using myDVD to burn to DVD. DVD Express is a "dumbed-down" wizard that has many problems and limitations.

I sooo appreciate your help. This is already a late Christmas present for my husband's family. Okay. I'm probably giving you way too much info about my system, but I hope it is everything you need to see. I have a Dell Dimension E510, DM051, running Windows XP Professional. I have an Intel Pentium 4 CPU, 3.20 GHz. I have 37.98% available memory.

Storage

Hardware

Type Description

DVD/CD-ROM Drives _NEC DVD+-RW ND-3530A

Disk Drives Maxtor 7L250S0 232.8Gb

Generic STORAGE DEVICE USB Device

TEAC USB HS-CF Card USB Device

TEAC USB HS-MS Card USB Device

TEAC USB HS-SD Card USB Device

TEAC USB HS-xD/SM USB Device

ATI RADEON® X600 256MB HYPERMEMORY

In my frustration, I have tried everything. I even completely redid the project. When that didn't work, I cut it down to only a few slides, but the same thing happened. It plays perfectly in VideoWave. I am no longer getting error codes, but it just doesn't recognize most of the pictures. The interesting thing is my files were nearly all .pdfs that I converted to .jpgs in Photoshop CS2. The jpgs I created in CS2 play fine. When I burn the project to disc, it displays only the pages I created in CS2 as it is saving, and not the others. Same thing happens when I try to save it as an ISO. The show is 10 minutes, 19 seconds long. It is 411 KB.

The pictures were in .pdf format. I saved them as .jpgs using Photoshop CS2. Now I have even a bigger problem. I also discovered that I didn't have any of the media and effect selector options, so I decided to redownload the software. Obviously, I did that wrong. I have a bunch of Roxio programs that were on my computer. The copy, burn, DVD LE, etc. Can I remove all of those and just reinstall Easy Creator 2009? If so, what is the best way to reinstall? You had no idea what you were getting into when you offered to help me. I am one big problem after another these days!

You need to do a clean install. PLease read the pinned post at the top of this forum.

Did you install the Contents download? That is where most of the efectts, etc are found.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I did the clean install following the directions you specified. I now have all of the items I should have. I am back to my original problem, but I think we are narrowing in on the solution (by we, I mean you). While it still will not display all of the pictures when encoding and playing back, it is displaying more. This leads me to believe it has nothing to do with the .jpgs being saved from .pdfs. Any suggestions for what to do next?
