capture from and input boxes are blank. when recording from a tape or album the recording level doesn't work.i can capture sound and burn to a cd, but the end result is terrible because the recording level doesn't work. i am using a hp computer that came with vista but now has xp.

From what, are you trying to capture, and how is it connected to your computer?

Make sure you have the audio enabled record function for the device (jack) plugged in and "turned up".

 

If you are capturing from tape, you should get enough volume. If you are capturing from a turn table, you must use an amplifier or small preamp to get the input volume up.
