Roxio Easy Vhs To Dvd

Question

I don't know if this is the correct forum for this or not, but here goes.

I received this product a few days ago and have not been able to copy any of my home movies at all. Whenever I am trying to copy my own home movies, I am getting a "Status: Signal Protected" message which aborts the whole capturing process. Therefore, I am not able to capture anything.

Looking on amazon.com's reviews for this product, I see other are having the same issues. Here are exceprts from three different reviews:

"I just purchased this product and it is useless! Due to the fact that when you try to capture video it constantly comes up with "signal protected" warning and stops capturing video. These are home movies and not copyrighted. Roxio web site absolutely sucks . cannot even log in to get to tech support - what a nightmare-DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT"

"But the most annoying issue is that as you are capturing the video, it randomly gives the "PROTECTED SIGNAL" error and stops the process. ROXIO website does not provide much help on this issue. It says this error will appear if you are capturing copyrighted video. But these are my own homemade movies I am trying to capture! What is the point of purchasing this if I cannot use it on my own home videos?? And by the way, good luck trying to get any help from ROXIO on this issue...they don't even want to acknowledge that the problem exists. I did a search on google and found that many people are facing the same issue. So unless and until ROXIO fixes this bug, I recommend against purchasing this product."

"The other deal-breaker is, as mentioned in an earlier review, random "signal protected" designation as the home video capture is attempted, aborting the capture process.

The long and the short of it is, at least on my system, this product is completely useless."

So what exactly is going on here? Is there going to be a fix issued for this problem or should I return it before my 30 days runs out?

8 days later and still no reply, I guess I will be filing a claim with PayPal. It's unfortunate that their (non existent) customer service is worse than their products.

Their refund information can be found here:

http://shop.roxio.com/servlet/ControllerSe...hemeID=10300#q3

Which is found simply by going through the Customer Service area on their support site, not by logging a ticket with their Technical Support.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will go that route.

But I wish their technical support would answer my help ticket, then possibly I wouldn't have to make a return. Because, ultimately I just want the product to work.
