No Sound In Captured Video

Chrisn

Question

I have 2 problems. One, I am unable to capture video using Creator 9. It identifies my video camera, but when I click on capture, it records nothing (well, it records a blank blue screen). I am able to capture the video using my camera's software, however, when I bring it into Creator 9 (VideoWave and MyDVD), there is video but no audio. When I view the video clips using my camera's software and Windows Media Player, the sound is there. Why won't Creator 9 recognize it?

I've spent hours trying to problem-solve this using Roxio's knowledgebase, but have not found the solution to my problem. I am anxious to start using my "easy-to-use" software from Roxio.

Computer - using XP, SP2 - designed for graphic-intensive programs

Camera - Sony Handycam, connected via USB cable

Which Sony Handycam? MiniDV tape, MiniDVD, etc.? Are you using Creator 2009? When capturing in C2009 , which application are you using? What file type are you capturing to?

Yes, C2009. Sony DVC-TRV70 (digital tape). I am able to capture the tape through the software that came with the camera, Imagewriter. The file captured is .mpg.

Is there any way for you to tell if the sound on your file is mono or stereo? If mono, that might be the source of your problem.

The source of the problem is that the OP is using USB when he should be using Firewire as is required when capturing from a DV tape camcorder.
