Captured video not viewable

theresap123

Question

Video capture seems to work fine until I try to open the captured file. Instead of a thumbnail image of the video, the icon appears as a red circle with a line through it. When I check the properties of the file, it says that its size is 0 bytes. I am not able to playback the video with any program. Has anyone ever seen this?

Yep,I'm pretty sure that means you don't have the codec available on your machine needed to play that file.I was having this problem when I first started working with DiVx files.I had to go out and download the codec and then everything was ok.If you download a program called GSpot and open the file with it,it will tell you if you have the needed codec. If not you can go out and download it and then you should be ok.

How did you capture your video? From what device did you capture? To what format did you capture, avi or mpeg? You have not supplied much info to work with.

WebTicket None Selected Roxio does not reconize ANY AVI's as being valid - the slash inside a circle is all I see. However with MPEG's selected, it works. This is all AVI's, not just ones downloaded through my camera. Also, the AVI's produced during download can not be played by Windows Media Player 10 - but can be played using QuickTime. I have unistalled and reinstalled - no luck. Help!!
