Buzz On All Tracks

popman44

Question

I'm having the most annoying problem on my first attempt to burn a cd from Toast.

I'm getting a buzzing on all tracks. It's not distortion, all the volumes are within proper threshold and there's no red-lining.

I'm NOT getting this in iTunes with the exact same aiffs.

Help?!

Thanks.

Tell me more about the files. You say they are AIFFs and are in iTunes. Is that right. When you add them to the Toast Audio window (with Audio CD as the format) and play them with the preview controls at the bottom you hear a buzzing sound. Do I have this right?

Hi.They are aiffs mixed from ProTools and saved in a file. I then put them into Toast and noticed a buzz on each track. Sounds like headphones with a speaker going out..crackling a bit--a thin buzz. So then I tried putting them into iTunes instead, and no buzz is heard. I've monitored through different sources and it's the same on all--iTunes or listening to the original files via ProTools, no buzz...Toast as a new audio cd project, previewing and also after burning, the buzzing is present (in both preview and on the burned cd)

If you choose Save as Disc Image and play the resulting .sd2f file using QucikTime Player, do you here the buzz? If not then the problem is happening with the disc burning itself. Burn audio CDs at the slowest possible speed (the availability of speeds are shown after the blank disc is inserted and recognized). Usually 8x is the slowest speed with most media and drives. Also test with a different brand of media.

If the noise is in the .sd2f file I'll need to think awhile about possible reasons.

Thanks for the reply. It's not the burning that's an issue ( I should've made that more clear), I'm hearing it BEFORE burning. I'm hearing it as I monitor, and then it's also present on the burned disc.
