General Question About Video Quality (toasts 8-10)

jabrowner

Question

I noticed when I first upgraded from Toast 6 to Toast 8 that the video quality didn't seem as sharp -- I mostly burn .avi files to DVD-video, and it has always seemed the pixillation is more pronounced in the newer version.

I'm finally getting around to upgrading to Toast 9 or Toast 10, depending on how word of mouth on the latter shakes out. Can anyone who burns similar types of files comment on whether the video quality seems much improved in either version?

Much appreciated! ^_^

Roxio changed to a highly-regarded source for its MPEG encoder starting with Toast 7. The encoder in Toast 6 is usually considered lesser in quality. Toast 7, 8, 9 and 10 have the same source for the MPEG encoder. I don't know how much it has been improved over the years but my best guess is you'll see no quality difference between Toast 8 and Toast 10 for video DVD encoding.

The MPEG encoder has actually changed over the years, and substantially (in my opinion) improved as of Toast 9.0.4. Depending on the source video, you may or may not be able to notice any differences.
