I'm running Vista and yes I've read through the Tips & Tricks article.

If it helps, the driver info. is date: 6/21/2006 version: 6.0.6001.18000 (listed in Device Manager)

My original question refers to the line in the Tip & Tricks article stating

"If you see No Signal beside Status, it is most likely you do not have the Input: set correctly. (got me first time out!) - This presumes you are wise enough to realize that your source must be plugged in and turned on… "

There is no place to select input on my screen.

Thanks again.

Are you telling me that you think there is someone out there that actually thinks that the device will capture from a VCR that is not even turned on or connected to the PC???

Really :o

Not clear on this, you do have yours working now???

The VCR is on and running. I'm saying that there is no place to choose the input on the Roxio screen. The quote refers to setting the input correctly ("you do not have the Input: set correctly. (got me first time out!)"). Again, there is no place to set the input.

Curios if you could outline the actual Steps you took in uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers??? – this is for a parallel topic we are working on and not really related to your issue.

For your problem, it has come time for a Clean Install. Vista

You will need to apply the Creator 2009 SP2 update after the install and that should do the trick for you!

I followed the steps for a Vista clean install (including the SP2 update) that was linked to above and still have the same situation. There is still no signal and no pulldown selection for "input." I get no response from Roxio from a technical service request I sent and unable to get through on the 877 number.

It may have reached the point where it is time to return this and look for something else.

Problem solved.

I returned the Creator 2009 with the USB capture device and got a new package. After doing a clean install (completely deleting all Roxio and Sonic files), I installed Creator 2009 and then the USB driver from the new set I got. After a couple of "failed installation" messages when installing the USB driver, I restarted my PC and tried again - it worked. The input selection pulldown box shows and I have been able to convert VHS to my PC. I assume the first Creator package had defective software on the CD or possibly the 2861 capture device was bad.

Sorry, I don't know why my post was split to a new topic.

I just purchased Creator 2009 that I run on a Vista PC. I get a "no signal" message when trying to copy from a VCR. The screen allows me to select the USB 2861 but there is no "input" pulldown menu/box to select from as is shown on the tutorial screen shots.

The 2861 shows in the Device Manager. I checked all connections. The VCR is running.

Thanks.
