I Can't Burn A Dvd...

I am brand new to Toast. I can burn a DVD fine from iDVD. However, in Toast I get an "Couldn't complete the last command because of a Mac OS Error. Result Code = -39". I get this if I am trying to burn a DVD or saving as a disc image.

 

I am on a PowerMac G4 with 2GB RAM and over 190GB of HD space available. It should be the latest copy of Toast because I downloaded it last night.

 

Any ideas?

What setting are you using in Toast? What is your source file that you're trying to burn?

Turns out it was user error. I was using the "DVD-Video" option and should have used the "Video-TS Folders" option for the type of of source.

 

It appears to be working now. I was able to make a disc image and am halfway through copying from the disc image to a DVD. If I have more problems I will post a followup.

I have exactly the same problem...

Mac OS Error -39 occurs, immediately after Toast 10 completes Multiplexing 100%.

 

Situation is: Within EyeTV,

select the recording, and

select the Toast icon on the menu bar.

Toast launches, all as per normal, edit Title etc, and

select the Red record button.

 

Toast completes Multiplexing, the then the record session fails with "MacOS Error -39"

 

The EyeTV Recording plays fine in EyeTV, right to the end of file, and loops back to the beginning.

I have tested the DVD disc, and DVD Writer, by successfully recording another EyeTV Title to DVD, erasing the DVD disc in Toast, repeating the attempt to record the previous Title [failed again], erasing the DVD disc, and successfully recording the second Title again..

 

Any ideas, as I am keen to preserve this recording on DVD Disc.

 

Eye TV and Toast are at the latest revision.

I'm not sure why this happens with some EyeTV videos but I know a workaround. Instead of exporting from EyeTV to Toast export as separate streams. Then drag the resulting .m2v file to Toast. This seems to work every time when needed to avoid the -39 error.

 

If you feel like experimenting you can add the EyeTV recording using the EyeTV setting in the Toast Media Browser rather than sending the video to Toast from the EyeTV application. My sense is that still will result in the -39 error for that specific video file, but it may be worth checking out.

Looks promising, still half an hour to go.

I noticed that Toast jumped straight into the Encoding phase [no Multiplexing].

Your approach worked just fine, thanks...

No Mac OS Error -39 was created this way.

 

To summarize:

a) Export the Eye TV Recording, and ...

Select Toast, export progress is displayed next to the Eye TV recording Title.

c) Record to DVD in Toast [begins at the Decoding phase, no Multiplexing], in the usual way.

 

The recording was MPEG1, 730x576 16:9, same as the original broadcast.

Error -39 is End of File error.

There is only one thing I can recall doing different with this EyeTV recording...

1) typically, I edit out the Lead-in and Lead-out, and any advertisement [commercial or internal]

2) this time, I noticed a few frames of the Lead-in were still present say half a second or so, and I twice tried to delete them in EyeTV, including compacting, but could not get rid of them all.

This multiple edit may have created the Error -39.

 

I won't be so fussy in future..

I'm new to toast and burning dvds. I was able to burn 2 dvd movies on toast 10 until a few weeks ago when after hitting the burn button and the decoding box comes up and a few seconds later toast shuts down with "The application toast titanium quit unexpectedly" error message.

 

This is the information on the movie format:

Video: DviX, 656 x 264, 23.98fps

Audio: MPEG Layer-3 Audio, Stereo, 48000Hz

 

I'm not sure if it was the movie I've downloaded or the software. I did try another movie and had the same problem. I was able to play the movie on Quicktime only once, but also get the same error message when trying to open it in Quicktime. Not sure what's going on. Please help!!!!

From what you describe my guess is there is a problem with the video file. For example, if the file is missing any frames of video that can cause Toast to crash when it encounters that break.
