There are many reason to output to a file. To upload to You Tube is a good example. Some of us own other video editors. Perhaps there is a special effect that Roxio doesn't have so we output to file and use that file in another editor. There are many uses for output to file.

Could anyone give me advice on any other editing software that i could use to edit dvd camcorder footage if i cant solve my issues with creator 2009.

I used creator 2009 to edit my movie and when i clicked the dvd button everything went ok until it started to do the encoding when i got the error code above.I have also got other error codes when encoding,it seems strange because i was getting error codes saying cant encode but on one occasion it worked and produced a good dvd so i thought my problems were over but here i am again. If you need any more info off will you give me some idea of what you want i am not too clued up at this thanks Paul.

What issues are you having? Be specific. What applications you are using and what steps you have taken. Try not to leave anything out.

I am using creator 2009 i edit my movie no problem then when i come to burn it to a dvd i get error messages one was 80045018 error while opening project the other was 800040005 error while encoding movie.I have got some advice from support about when i click burn do it as image file or folder set but these produce the error codes aswell.I have already managed to burn one edited film to disk so why do i get these errors when it is capable of doing the job. Also they said to defrag my pc which i did but no result from that thanks Paul

I think it would be a good idea for you to read (and printout) the workflow strategy written by Jim Hardin

Also please list your computer specs especially video card.

Could you explain exactly what you are doing? What are your source files (video, image, etc),what kind of editing are you doing? Waht format are your source files? How long in time is your production?

Have you tried rendering in the software mode if its currently inhardware (use File/options)?

Have you updated drivers for your (on-board?) chipset? Are you running the latest version of DirectX 9c?

I assume you are using Videowave to create your video project (edit, add audio, etc) and then adding the Videowave project in myDVD. While in VW can you output as to a DVD mpeg file? That will tell you if there is a problem with the source video and where the problem is.

I am editing video from a DVD camcorder as far as editing goes i am putting all the clips together in videowave with a scrolling title at the beginning and the end.The files show up as mpg files i dony know if that is because i have viewed them with windows media player.I have to use mydvd le to take them off the camera. My rendering is set to software rendering. As for the drivers i cant find newer ones than the ones i have which is oct 2005.I am running the latest directx 9c.I tried to output as a dvd mpeg file but it wont even let me open the editing part of creator it says it needs video wave and it is running on another user account but i have checked and its not running on any other accounts.

I think that there are drivers out there that are newer than 2005, but if what you say, about having the most current drivers is accurate, the video chip doesn't have the horses to do the video editing.

If your computer is a laptop, you are SOL. If you have a desktop, get a stand alone video card.

No clue, except Creator 2009 is 3 versions newer, and is more demanding on the video card/chip. The important thing is, it isn't working.

You could try downloading the latest version of DirectX, and see if that makes a difference. I don't have a link for it and have to go somewhere. Someone should drop in, and give you the link.

One designed for gaming will usually have a fast dual (or more) core CPU, lots of memory, and a stand alone video card and a good DVD burner. All major manufacturers will have a line designed for gaming. Buy the best you can afford. Dell XPS series; HP XDS series, Gateway P-7811FX, Alienware Area-51 m9750, Velocity Micro NoteMagix™ M15 Ultra, etc. Buy what you like and can afford. Don't think of one well under $1000 unless you get a real good steal.

When you find one that you like come back and ask for opinions on this forum.
