Roxio Rip Off

rip off

Question

Buying my toast 9 from Apple I did not think I would have a problem with the rebate from roxio. They had me jump through hoops twice and still I have not recieved my rebate , 4 months ago. Calling their customer line was like talking to an illegal alien from Mexico. Rebates for this company are marketing tricks to get you to buy.

Did they tell you what documentation was missing, that they never got the request or did they say that the rebate had expired.? Did you supply that documentation when they said it was missing? Companies usually farm out the rebate to a handling company. Did you talk to Roxio or the rebate company? What did they say? Contrary to common opinion, companies that handle rebates are not out to screw you. They simply have to justify the rebates they fulfill when they are audited by the company (Roxio) that hired the rebate company.

A few tips for getting a rebate. Make sure that you meet all the requirements for the rebate. Make sure all the originals and the rebate form are stapled together. If the document is small like the product UPC code, tape that to a sheet of paper and put a description on it saying it is the original as requested. On the rebate form, put a check mark or a comment by each item to indicate that it is enclosed/attached.

Apply for the rebate well within the rebate time. Take the rebate letter to the post office and have it delivered with a return receipt (or a signature for acceptance of delivery). Yes, that takes time and costs more but wouldn't a person spend $5-$6 to help assure a $30 rebate?

To the OP, I also had problems getting rebates but since I have been doing the above, I have not failed to get those that I applied for.
