davenav
I just got the new version 10 pro this weekend -- everything works fine except -- I cannot get Sonicfire to install. I get a window that says, "The software to be installed requires Administrator or higher level access privileges." Anyone else having this problem? I'm interested in being able to extract clips from unprotected DVD and save in other formats ie. QuickTime and RealPlayer flv. Have you checked out this new feature? Thanks! tsantee
Interesting. Any ideas about a workaround? If I lock the folder, won't that wreak havoc on my other apps? I think you're misunderstanding what it means to enter your Administrator's password. If you're installing this on your computer then you are the administrator. Just enter the password and proceed. You are not unlocking anything or risking your other applications. You are just giving permission. RE: new features in Toast 10--further to the post by see_em. I'm interested in being able to extract clips from unprotected DVD and save in other formats ie. QuickTime and RealPlayer flv. Have you checked out this new feature? Thanks! I've made this posting about the steps for converting edited clips from DVDs or VIDEO_TS folders to other formats. RealPlayer FLV is not a format that Toast can create, though. It can export to DV, HDV, H.264, MPEG-4 and QuickTime movie.

If you're installing this on your computer then you are the administrator. Just enter the password and proceed. You are not unlocking anything or risking your other applications. You are just giving permission. I guess I didn't explain it right the first time then, because I am not getting the opportunity to give permission (as with all the other apps in the download). Sonicfire says it needs higher admin privileges, but it does not have a window where I can give it.

Insert the Toast install disc or mount the downloaded Toast 10 Titanium Pro DMG file. Open the Pro Applications folder (you don't need to copy this folder to the hard drive). Double-click the SonicFire 5 Pro installer. A window should open asking you for yourr name and password. Usually the administrator name is already entered but it may be that it isn't entered correctly in which case you need to change it. After entering the correct name and password the installer opens. I don't know what else to suggest because that's all it takes on my Mac.
