"windows Explorer Has Stopped Working ..."

stevensohn

Question

Right now I am on a chat with a Microsoft tech and we have isolated a problem where Vista Home Premium crashes because of a file in Creator 2009. The file is SonicHDDemuxer.dll, anyhow, uninstalling Creator 2009 resolved the problem.

Problem was when I opened an explorer window and tried to get into C:\Program Files I got the message "Windows explorer has stopped working ..." Then explorer reloaded itself and everything worked except getting into Program Files. Looking at the Problem Reports it kept citing this Sonic file as the cause of the problem.

Reinstalling Creator 2009 (which I really like, and I returned to Roxio after Nero, which is not what I wanted) and I really hope the issue goes away.

Will update this later.

Reinstalled CS2009 and updated to SP2, and so far the problem is still gone. Can only guess that somehow this file got corrupted and screwed things up.
