Did you install the updated drivers (here)? .

If that doesn't work, come back and post more details.

Is the program recognizing the USB device? When you open the window, do you see anything when you select the device?

I am finding the program extremely sensitive to any kind of copy protection. I want to copy MY commercial vhs movies to dvd so I can use them on modern equipment, but it is not working for that. In fact, it stopped in the middle of copying a vhs tape of a tv news broadcast! I am really going through the dvds. Beginning to think this program may not be ready for prime time, but will keep playing with it.

Of course the program is "sensitive" to copy protection on commercial VHS tapes since breaking the copy protection is illegal.

The info you folks are giving is really helpful, particularily to us newbys! I do understand the copy protection issue. What I was hoping for was a program which could copy the VHS movies I have already paid for onto the new media, but it doesn't seem to work for that. But it also stopped recording a 15 year old TV news broadcast that I had made. I know that it was not copy protected. So I continue to experiment to find out exactly what it will predictably work with. Today I start working with books on tape, which is what I really want to use the program for as audio tape players are as uncommon as VHS tape players. I'll report on progress...

Whether you paid for the VHS tape or not is irrelevant. If it has copy protection it is illegal to break that protection.
