I have a similar problem. I can record sound when copying a VHS tape to DVD. But when attempting to transfer audio tapes to CD I do not get sound, which is a problem as you can imagine! I have tried line out jacks as well as a headphone jack converter. I get an empty file copied to my computer. No sound either while recording or playback of the file. I do not have any other Roxio products installed and I have downloaded the update....

This is an update to my previous post. I still am able to dupe some video tapes with sound on my desktop. But I can't get sound when working on audio tapes. On a whim I tried to do this on my laptop and it worked fine! Both boxes are Vista 64 with Intel multiple processors and gobs of memory. Only difference is video/sound cards. Very strange, but all's well that ends well... So to summarize, I digitize video tapes on my desktop and audio tapes on my laptop.
