Cineplayer Fails

peterdomo

Question

Since installing (clean, multiple times) Creator 9, I have been unable to use Cineplayer. After a few seconds the splash screen just closes.

I have run dxdiag and it refers to a crash in DirectShow. Could this relate to the Cineplayer problem?

I have copied the first part of the dxdiag output below.

That looks like a DirectX problem (DirectShow is part of DirectX)

Re-install that if you can (get DirectX9 which is what the suite uses) and install that.

You could also check for an update to DirectX 10 from MS

Let us know what happens

DX 9 should install - I have it on Windows 7 Beta.

Try dropping UAC and see if that helps

Thanks again.

I did manage to install DX 9 by downloading the whole package to my machine instead of just the setup exe.

Unfortunately the problem remains. Perhaps it will remain one of life's great mysteries.

(By the way I did let Roxio know about the problem and got a reply after a couple of weeks asking for the dxdiag report which I provided. It's been two or three weeks since then and I haven't had a reply.)

Thanks.

No good news. I have obtained the latest GeForce 6600 drivers and tried to reinstall DirectX 9 and 10. Neither will install since 10 is already there.

One new thing - I have a dual boot system and installed Creator 2009 on the XP partition. Cineplayer runs just fine. I'm at a loss as to what I can try next.
