kris22
I had the same problem and I went to uninstall Microsoft.net framework 3.5 and ran the repair feature. That fixed it for me.

Found that if I closed the Pixela Image Mixer Camera Monitor (right click on the icon in the taskbar) that Creator 2009 would then run ok. Chas221
Sounds like the .NET issue. Service Pack 3 for Creator 2009 should fix this issue. go here to find out where to get it http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=48091 I have just installed (then uninstalled and reinstalled) Creator 2009 today and I am having exactly the same problem. The only thing which seemed to be a "blip" during the install was an error message - Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Setup --- Setup Error. When nothing happened I exited that window and the install proceeded as if OK. Then, when I try to open Creator I get " creator has encountered a problem and has to close" Does the service pack 3 update fix this? It sure does - I've just done it and it has solved the problem thanks Sonic Boom and others.
Jim_Hardin
I'm having the same error. Now I'm trying to download the Service pack but when I click on the link it brings me to your "Search the Knowledgebase" page. Go through your Start Menu and select one of the programs like, Creator Classic. Click on Help – Check for Updates… (I had no problem with the link???) n2rrq
I have the "Roxio Creator has encountered a problem and needs to close" problem as well. I did an uninstall and reinstall which left me in the same position. I then did the clean install following the directions to the letter. This worked as long as I kept all start up items disabled. I used this configuration to install the latest update but after re-enabling the start up items the problem has returned. I've spent many hours individually disabling various start up items but can not find the one (or many) that stop this program from working.
