Toast 9 Crashes After Burn

michaelft77

Question

Hey folks........ I'D like to think I have a fairly unique problem here.

I purchased Toast 9 last fall. I'm in the music business and need a pro

audio cd burner and thought it was time to upgrade to 9. I got a new mac

pro around the same time. OS 10.5.5. I have three other computers

running 10.4.11 that Toast 9.04 works fine on but on the new mac pro

Toast 9 crashes after any kind of burn. The Roxio people had me doing all

sorts of stuff for weeks on end with no success until one of the Roxio techs

had me open another account on the mac pro. I finally had success burning

a cd and a dvd. However the inconvenience of having to switch accounts

is a real drag.

Enter Toast 10...... I thought new software might change the situation.

No good ........ the same thing happens and I'm out 200 bucks at this point

with software that doesn't work properly.

Hopefully someone out there has an idea. I've done all of the obvious.

Trashed prefs, repaired permissions etc. Someone Help Please!

I spent $140.00 buying Toast 9 in October 2008 and till today 13-2-09 I still have not been able to burn any video files / DVDs etc.

I do not have any problems burning Audio files but every time I try to burn in any video format it gets to 94% then just returns an Error Code " Mac OSX Error code 39.

I have tried everything that Roxio has advised several times but still no luck

I have also tried Toast 10 and yet again i get the same result ----!@#%$W#@!*&^ :angry2: :angry2:

If it works in one account and not another that indicates there is something installed in the User Library of the one that isn't working that is conflicting with Toast. The first place I'd look is in the User>Library>Audio>Plugins>VST folder. Drag any plugins that may be there to the desktop to see and then use Toast to see if one of them is having the conflict. If Toast works, drag back in each plugin until you find the one that's that triggers the problem. I'm guessing you have some plugins there from your pro audio applications.

For example, there used to be a SoundSoap plugin that caused crashes but that was fixed with a SoundSoap update.

If none of those are the cause, check the other plugins. The Apple-installed ones are not a problem.
