bdkennedy1
The drive in my Intel iMac is a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-846 and is supposed to burn at 8x, but the max Popcorn will burn is 2x. What gives?
bdkennedy1
The discs are 8x Promedia DVD-R. The only speeds available are 1x and 2x. It might depend on the media. What media are you using? After inserting the disc go to the Recorder Settings window and click on the Write Speed button (the default is Best). What speeds are available in bold face? tsantee
The discs are 8x Promedia DVD-R. The only speeds available are 1x and 2x. The drive checks the media and tells Toast what speeds are supported. Apparently the firmware in that drive doesn't support burning more than 2X to those Promedia discs. Check the DVD Media link at videohelp.com to read user reports about different media brands. Verbatim usually is well supported by various drives. I have the same drive as yours in my G5 iMac and my 16x Verbatim DVD-R's reportedly burn at 8x maximum.
