Dvd Fails To Write To Disk

paul4ut

Question

I'm trying to create a DVD from a dv file. Originally, it was a 16 MB Quicktime Movie before I converted it to a 2 GB dv file. I'm skipping the creation of Chapters and Start Up Menu with hopes of reducing file size. I've ruined a half-dozen blank DVDs attempting to create the DVD. Any ideas?

Also, since you didn't provide any real information to go by, what specific Roxio or Sonic product do you have?

What application in the product are you using to try to burn with?

What settings are you using?

What are the steps you are taking?

Have you tried burning to an image file, folder set or an RW disc so you aren't making a bunch of coasters?

What are the specs of your system?

Get some DVD/RW media to work with - if what you are doing is successful, re-burn to R media for the long term. If it isn't erase the disc and try something else. RW is very useful for testing, instead of "ruin[ing] a half-dozen blank DVDs".

Also, DVD Video is based on time, not file size. About 1 hour of best-quality DVD will fit on one DVD/R. How much time is involved in this originally 16MB file?
