Extending Length Of Audio Capture

thegadgetguroo

Question

I have a 10in audio reel with 3hrs of music per side. When I attempt to do an audio transfer after about 90 minutes the transfer stops. The controls still look as if the audio is being recorded but the elasped time stopped. I do not have any limits set for transfer time. Any suggfestions?? I have a Dell inspiron 1520 laptop w/ Windows Vista. 2gb Ram and a 250gb hard drive with 150gb available. I have 1.05gb of available memory and 2.69gb of virtual memory.

Is the recording continuing? In other words, is the timer wrong (have a limit of 5400 seconds)?

Ok,that's not it.

How are you connecting the Reel to Reel to your computer?

Which app are you using to capture with?

If you're using Easy Audio Capture, try using the LP and Tape Assistant.Just substitute the Reel to Reel for a turntable.

If the timer isn't set then I'm not sure what would stop the recording.

Did you by chance upgrade from XP to Vista?

The reason I ask is that XP could have been formatted in FAT32,thus limiting file size to 4Gb.When this limit is reached the file would have stopped.

Vista, when installed, should try and format to NTFS.
