Transferring Betamax Home Videos

BagpiperDude

Question

I have hours and hours of home movies made during the 80s on a Sony Betacam video camera. My question is will the Roxio USB Capture device along with using Roxio 2009 Creator Ultimate work to transfer these videos to an avi file format?

I still have a Beta VCR that works well (had it recently repaired) and can play the video tapes in it. The VCR does have a video output (yellow) and a left and right audio output (red and white..or is that white and red?). Anyway, these outputs seem to be compatible with the adapter I purchased along with the software.

I have not tested it yet since I haven't retrieved the tapes from storage but wanted an answer anyway. Thanks.

I can hear the yells and screams and laughter out there over being the only person on the planet that actually preferred Beta over VHS because of quality!! LOL...

I preferred Beta over VHS, so no screams and laughter from me and I am certain we are not alone  Just because something is popular does not mean its quality :)

You won't get any screams from me, either. I still have a Beta machine and a Super Beta machine. Beta is better. :)

I will verify whether I have Service Pack 3 but I believe the last time I check Roxio indicated I didn't need an update.

Also, good to know I'm not the only Beta fan out there!
